SWITZERLAND, FROM THE RHONE TO THE BERNESE ALPS

 

Enchanting tour starting from Turin or from Milan that allows to admire breath-taking panoramas, crossing the Alps, the Rhodan Valley, visiting the town of Martigny with its well-known Gianadda Foundation and the Morand Distillery, producer of the exquisite Swiss fruit brandy, source of pride and excellence of the country, climbing up to the hills in the middle of vineyards that overlook the Leman Lake, following the road that cross many passes through uncontaminated woods and meadows till arriving to the charming villages of Spiez, with its beautiful Castle, and Interlaken, situated between the Lakes of Thun and Brienz, at the foot of the Bernese Alps. The ascent by the Jungfrau cog railway offers spectacular alpine views like the terrible north face of Eiger Peak and the Mönch and Jungfrau glaciers at the end arriving to the Pass of Jungfrau placed at 3454 m, the highest railroad station of Europe, where the visitors can enjoy a lunch watching with a little fear and trembling the extended Bernese glaciers as the Aletsch, the largest of the Alps. The ascent is passing by Grindelwald and Grund villages while the descent is crossing Wengen and Lauterbrunnen proposing to the guests a complete view of both sides of the itinerary admiring this awesome region of eternal snows. Friburg, renowned for its excellent cheeses, and Lausanne proceeding through hills and vineyards, enjoying a wine and cheese light lunch-tasting in a famous local producer, are two important moments of this tour to explore deeper the gastronomy of this area and to meet the excellent products of this territory.  The ascent of the Great St. Bernard, crossing the Alps by the tunnel and descending along the way to Turin or Milan finish this marvelous journey in Switzerland. It is possible to combine this itinerary with a visit of Turin or Milan and with a tour in Langhe Land.
